We helped TEDx Moreau Catholic tell their stories

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that brings people together to share a TED-like experience. Moreau Catholic’s TEDx annual gathering is held to bring students together to inspire the world with their stories.

Reinvent Yourself in 2022

Shrinking into a Man's World | Ashley To

This is a man's world. And as women, we often fear the repercussions of trying to fight for a world that is not even ours, but for a world that is shared equally. This fear is a notion passed down from generations of women who have been forced to remain complacent in times when changes are needed. Women shrink in a man's world. They conceal their emotions, their ambition, their bodies–simply because they're afraid to face the response that men have for them if they don't. This talk is a call to action for women to stop shrinking themselves, for them to proudly step into this world where our opportunities are not yet equal. But if there is going to be change, we, as women, are the catalyst.

More Than an Athlete | Mahda Fallay

This talk covers all the stereotypes of modern-day athletes and promotes the reality that athletes are much more than entertainment. With vivid examples of professional athletes and himself, Mahda Fallay explains how athletes are using their platforms to change the world.

The Achievability of Self Love | Katrina Pace

Self-love is a concept that many people of all ages and walks of life can struggle with, especially now more than ever due to the rise of social media. So how can we as a society break the upheld standards and become comfortable in our own skin?

An Unsolicited Opinion | Brooke Nunes

The unsolicited opinion of men lurks in every facet of life. However, we can learn how to erase this practice by taking just a few steps.

Cultural Appropriation in America | Teri Beasley

In a country that was built on suppressing the history of some of its citizens, cultural appropriation occurs constantly, more often than not, being misinterpreted. Aspects of Black culture are commonly taken and reintroduced as something different than its original intent. It’s time to uncover the impact of cultural appropriation on African and African American cultures.

Two Worlds One Mind | Mariya Malik

This talk is about the underrepresented, specific struggle children of immigrants face regarding their mental health and how these issues are propagated due to certain toxic cultural norms, identity crises, and lack of awareness. In order to combat this harmful pattern among mostly second-generation immigrants, health/mental health professionals must begin to account for intersectionality in their treatments and find a way to educate and spread awareness among communities who are trapped behind cultural barriers.

Colorism in the Philippines | Bianca Punzalan

In the Philippines, many people will go to great lengths to lighten their skin because the sad truth of it all is that in Filipino culture dark skin equates to being dirty, ugly, and poor. In this talk, speaker Bianca Punzalan will explore the origins of the colonial ideals of colorism and how we end anti-brownness once and for all.
